Get started with GNOS
Requirements
- Modern Intel processor, AES-NI recommended for
Full Disk Encryption
- 8GB memory for
GNOS GUI, more recommended
- 20GB HDD space, SSD recommended for
ZFS root filesystem
- Internet connection
Install instructions
Interactive setup
- Download Ubuntu 16.04.4 image here
Note If you don’t plan on installing boot-partition-less ZFS root filesystem, any supported Ubuntu LTS version is fine. Otherwise you MUST use 16.04.4 because later versions ship a ZFS version that is not adapted to grub-compatible pool creation.
- Create install media, help here
- Boot and choose
Try Ubuntu
- Configure keyboard layout & timezone
- Configure network access (if not detected)
- Partition your disks with Gparted, read

- Open a terminal and run:
wget get.gnos.in/installer && sudo bash installer MenuInstall
- Follow instructions (text UI), read
